Walk a Mile in My Shoes

I never saw a pair of empty shoes just walking (or flying) down the road.
 You want others to "walk a mile" in your shoes before they judge you?  'Cause nobody knows what it's like to be you? And "you gotta walk in my shoes so you can be compassionate towards me"?
How about, if you don't like the street your mile is on, you put on your shoes, put one foot in front of the other,  and start walking down another street? Or at least in the other direction!
