For those who don't know, Life in a Shoe is a blog by a Christian family of 12. They home-school. They live in Texas. And contrary to the beliefs of those readers who might think I am entirely focused on those fundamentalist polygamist mormons, all 10 children of the Life in a Shoe family have been birthed by the same mother. The father doesn't have any other wives. They aren't Mormon.
And, if any of my readers happen to have or want large families, home-school or want to home-school, or simply have a desire to learn more about building a better family life, you might be interested in hopping over there to Life in a Shoe and learn how to qualify for the give-away. The featured product is from Vision Forum, and is called "Family Strategies", a series of 20 weekly lessons/"conversations" by Doug and Beall Philips.
Some of the topics include:
1.How to Organize Your Home to Promote Family UnitySounds practical and inspiring.
2.How to Cultivate a Love of Reading with Your Children
3.How to Make Mealtime Meaningful
4.How to Prepare for a Year of Home Education
5.How to Take Children Safely Through an Airport
6.How to Involve the Whole Family in Family Worship
7.How to Address the Plague of “Jive Talk” in Your Home
8.How to Encourage Masculinity in Sons
9.How to Encourage Femininity in Daughters
Especially this one:
10.How to Handle a Social Worker Visit
Wow.
This leaves me with the impression that if you have a large family and/or home-educate your children, you can EXPECT a visit from your friendly neighborhood Social Worker from CPS at some point in time.
Is this true? I suspect it is, but would like to hear from readers with experience.
As a side note, I think this would tickle pink those Texas Totalitarians over at that anti-FLDS blog who have suggested massive government involvement and testing on home-schooled children to insure that the education they are receiving is "up to par"; (and at least one of them has suggested legally prohibiting from marriage anyone who does not hold a government-approved high school diploma!)
And I hope Life in a Shoe doesn't mind my linking to her blog, given the usual topics here. "Family Strategies" looks like a wonderful product, and I'm a big fan of the blog.

Great link there Toes!
For some unknown reason our welfare and entitlement programs observe policies and procedures which influence an increase in single-parent households in this nation.
I have to wonder if the word "FAMILY" is anywhere in our laws today, except for those which work to pay state & local authorities federal funds to disassemble FAMILY.
kbp, I found one!
